The Meaning of Sexual Addiction
A Psychoanalytic Inquiry

by William Packard

This research study involves a thorough examination on the meaning and functions served by sexual addiction.  A uniform psychoanalytic theory is constructed by synthesizing representative works from all of the major schools of psychoanalysis.  This framework offers a consistent, systematic approach for understanding and treating the sex addict.  A case illustration is used to demonstrate efficacy and process involved in treating a sex addict, using a modern psychoanalytic approach.  Interpretations and analysis of the case study offer additional support and validation of the theoretical constructs.
