Heed University School of Theology

Rabbi Joshua D. Kreindler earned his Bachelor's degree from Queens College, his Master's degree from New York University. He received his Rabbinical Ordination from Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem from Rabbi Moshe Feinstein. After ten years in public and private education, he was a resident in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program at Jackson Memorial Hospital, specializing in AIDS ministry. He trained under Reverend Dr. Raymond Otto, an ordained Lutheran minister and Reverend Dr. Ward Knights, an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister. He is currently a Hospice Chaplain.

Rabbi Kreindler is offering seminarians, candidates for ordination of all denominations, as well as ordained clergy, the following courses:

Listening: The Key to Successful Pastoral Care. The student and mentor (Rabbi Kreindler) will analyze various texts and actual verbatims/case studies in order to develop sensitive, patient-centered listening skills.

Scripture: Using it to a Patient's Benefit. The student and mentor (Rabbi Kreindler) will analyze and compile various scriptures from a variety of religious traditions in order to be able to successfully minister to a multi-faith spectrum of patients.

How Do You Feel/ How Do I Feel? The student will write a minimum of seven (7) verbatims, describing his/her interventions in hospital/hospice/parish setting. The student and mentor (Rabbi Kreindler) will analyze how to improve interventions, as well as understand intra and inter-psychic dynamics taking place within the minister before, during and after the intervention.

Widening Our Horizons: The student will do a study and implementation of various forms of therapy and will report on the efficacy of each.
