The first graduate degree in Theological research. The
curriculum provides preparation for the permanent diaconate or for the office of
deaconess; it has a minimum thrust toward professional practice and major thrust toward
development of a general theological understanding. The program seeks to involve
students in creating goals and structures which are guided by theological perspectives
about the mission of the religious community to the world, and in relating to other
professions from the enlarged perspectives of a religious community.
Bachelor's Degree (in any subject) from a recognized college or
university.
Successful completion of sixty (60) credits beyond the B.A. or
B.S., including a thesis in the area of concentration. Tuition is $49 per credit,
for a total of $2,940.
The first professional degree for those seeking ordination to
the ministry or priesthood. The program provides structured opportunity to
develop a thorough and critical understanding of the religious heritage in contemporary
and historical contexts and of the structures and cultural realities within which
religious institutions live and carry out their mission; to exercise the carious arts of
ministry under faculty supervision; and to experience growth in those qualities of
maturity, faith and commitment essential for the practice of ministry.
Bachelor's Degree (in any subject) from a recognized college or
university.
Successful completion of ninety (90) credits beyond the B.A. or
B.S. [Note that a HUSoT M.T.S. counts as only 53 credits toward a
HUSoT M.Div.] Tuition is $55 per credit, for a total of $4,950.
A post-ordination graduate research degree that may focus
either on fuller mastery of resources in one of the theological disciplines or on a
specialized function of ministry. The program comprises significant scholarly
achievement. Language requirements, if any, are determined by the field of
specialization and its needs.
Admission Requirements
Master of Divinity [M.Div.] degree from a recognized college or university.
Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of thirty (30) beyond the M.Div.,
including a thesis which demonstrates scholarly competence and an oral examination
covering the area of the thesis and major specialization. Tuition is $66 per credit,
for a total of $1,980
The highest professional degree related to ministries for which
ordination is required. The program brings increasing professional, intellectual and
spiritual integrity to the practice of ministry. Goals include growth in the
capacities to understand and interpret ministry; to articulate and refine a theory of
ministry; and to function in an appropriate manner in the skill areas of ministry.
Admission Requirements
Master of Divinity [M.Div.]degree from a recognized seminary or
university.
Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of thirty (30) credits beyond the M.Div.
including an applied research project and the demonstration of a new level of competence
in practice. [Note that a HUSoT Th.M. counts as only 20 credits
toward a HUSot D.Min.] Tuition is $99 per credit, for a total of
$2,970.
Tuition figures listed above assume the student has no advanced
standing. The fee for evaluating credits taken elsewhere, if they are accepted by
HUSoT, is one half of the regular per-credit tuition; thus a student with
acceptable transfer credit will pay less than the
"totals" stated above. In order to keep tuition as low as possible, HUSoT
does not provide scholarships or other financial assistance to students; however, tuition
may be paid in agreed-upon monthly installments while the program continues, with no
finance charges as long as accounts are current. Educational services will be
discontinued to any student who falls in arrears, and a finance charge of one percent (1%)
per month will be imposed. No degree will be awarded nor any transcripts released
until all financial obligations have been met.
Refunds are available as follows: Any student who
withdraws from the program will be refunded 100% of all tuition received 0-6 days prior to
HUSoT's receiving written notice of her/his withdrawal; 75% of all tuition received , 7
-13 days prior to HUSoT's receiving such notice; 50% of all tuition received 14-20 days
prior to HUSoT's receiving such notice; 25% of all tuition received 21-27 days prior to
HUSoT's receiving such notice; and 0% of tuition received 28 or more days prior to HUSoT's
receiving such notice.
Any complaints on any subject should be put in writing and
addressed to the President of HUSoT.
