Performance Based Advanced Standing is an assessment procedure used to determine the number of advanced standing credits or courses awarded to a student based upon appropriate and relevant academic, career and professional performance.

Heed University, which is based in Wisconsin, started its distance learning program in 1970. Thus, it was already well established by the time distance learning hit a milestone of 300,000 students in the 1980s. HEED is a University without walls.
